Introduction
LAKHO Mining Services is offering a low cost, high-tech, detonator for use in mining development and stope production applications.
LAKHO supplies a range of Shock Tube detonators, LP delays and trunk line to the mining and quarrying industry. The shock tube component of our product is a double layer shock tube same as the double layer offered and sold by local competitors. Except for the trunk lines (which are sourced fm AEL) all these products are sourced from overseas suppliers for which the details are provided herewith.
The current product range supplied by LAKHO can be used in every mining and quarrying activity in the country. LAKHO furthermore ensures that the products that it supplies comply with international standards and that they are tested by the South African officials.

SOLAR-P BOOSTERS are detonation pressure explosives & are sensitive to initiation by No. 8 Detonator & Detonating Cord.
After initiation Solarcast-P detonates at a high velocity & very high detonation pressure. Solarcast-P boosters have two holes for ease in priming with Detonation Cords Or
Detonators / Nonel.
Solarcast–P is well suited for initiate ANFO, Heavy ANFO, Slurries, and Emulsions & Other Explosives Material.

SOLAR CORD
DETONATING CORD
SOLAR CORD Detonating cord assures reliable non-electric initiation.
The range of cords manufactured includes core-loads of 6g, 10g, & 20g
PETN core per meter. The cord is PVC coated flexible with uniform
core-load of PETN ensures positive initiation of cap- sensitive explosives
along its entire length of fuse. The PETN core is encapsulated in
multi- layer protective coverings to withstand rugged use and exposure to extreme temperatures. The cord is relatively insensitive to detonation by
friction, shock or electric discharge and requires proper initiation for detonation.

SUPREME CORD RELAY
SUPREME CORD RELAY is a non-electric surface delay detonator-relay initiator, which provides nominal delay intervals between holes, and the rows in Detonating fuse line.
The delay is accomplished by cutting the “Solar Cord” Detonating fuse and attaching the Supreme Cord relay to the open cut ends.
SPECIFICATIONS:
Supreme Cord Relay consists of two delay devices housed in a plastic component.
Both holes are provided two holes for threading the Detonating fuse.
Cord Relays are of different delay intervals are in natural plastic components with
nominal time indicated in different color code.
Supreme Cord Relay is manufactured by EEL are available in 17, 25, 42 & 67ms delay intervals.
PACKING:
Supreme Cord Relays are packed in cartons of 50 nos each. 20 Such cartons are packed in wooden cases, lined with bitumen / polythene liners, Cord Relay are packed in Standard quantity of 1000 pieces.
OPERATION AIDS:
Lay the Detonating Coad trunk line with a minimum of slack between holes.
Cut the trunk line at the point where Cord Relay is to be hooked.
Pass one cut end of detonating Cord through hole provided in plastic housing and make up loop.
APPLICATION OF CORD RELAYS:
Cord Relays can be used for providing various delay initiation patterns such as Row delay, Diagonal pattern, V-Pattern etc. Where controlled blasting is required, Cord Relays can be used in such a manner that only one hole blasts at a time thus keeping the minimum charge per delay.

ADVANTAGES
Cord Relays are non electric and thus are immune to extraneous electricity and radio frequency (RF) energies
Use of tie lines in the surface hook up provides
two or three detonation paths thus minimizing
risk of misfire.
Cord Relays are bi-directional in usage & very simple to use.
Cord Relays are accurate. They get initiated sequentially & thus eliminate the problem of overlap prevalent in delay detonator.
Firing of infinite number of holed possible. Provides an unlimited number of delays allowing large blasts to be conducted.
Use of combination of Cord Relays of different timings allows large blasts to be carried out with minimum ground vibrations. Firing of individual hole at a time is possible, where required.

DISADVANTAGES
Cut ends of Detonating cord should be kept dry.
Locate/ position Cord Relays close to the borehole
to be delayed
Where individual holes are fired in sequence, use of two cord relays in parallel is recommended.
In multi row blasting using Cord Relay, Detonating cord cross-ties or safety lines should be provided as an insurance against possible risks of misfires due to cuts offs.
Where parallel or safety line is to be provided, the loose ends of detonating cord must not cross. They should be kept apart to avoid flashover.

PLAIN DETONATORS
The PLAIN DETONATORS consists of Aluminium shells Filled with ASA & PETN as Primary & secondary charge. The spit of the fire conveyed by the safety fuse is picked up by primary charge, which detonates the secondary charge, which in turn initiates cap sensitive explosives.
These Detonators are manufactured in an extremely modern plant using highly sophisticated techniques and strict quality assurance measures.
APPLICATION:
Blasting with safety Fuse in quarrying, Well sinking, Road Construction, Pipe Laying and other Civil Projects.
